I hired Shawn to install a fan in a bathroom that was built in the 80s without a fan. This included adding new electrical wiring, new ducting, and cutting a hole through the side of the house for the vent. Shawn was responsive throughout all the planning, including a visit to the home, providing a professional estimate, and email communication with me to coordinate on my requests around the specific fan and timer switch I wanted. The job started and finished exactly according to schedule; the final price was exactly as quoted (and on par with three other estimates I got); and all four people that worked in my home were professional, efficient, and cleaned up after themselves. We were so impressed with Shawn with Clear River Contracting. We had started our project with another individual who had overstated their abilities, did not show up, and left us with an attic that was worse off than we started. Shawn came in and was able to not only complete the job, but fix many of the glaring mistakes from the prior contractor and left us with a beautiful and functional space. Shawn has a very clear attention to detail, bordering on perfectionism. Possibly even more important, Shawn always showed up when he said he would, his pricing was transparent (excel spreadsheet with each line item priced out) and didn’t suddenly change for no reason, and full of integrity. I first booked with Clear River for a remodel of our downstairs bedroom, which was in pretty rough shape. I had put off calling anyone about it for awhile because I’m not exactly a handyman sort of guy, and I didn’t even know where to start or what to ask for. Thankfully, I struck gold on my first call to these guys. I spoke with Shawn, who turned out to be the owner, and he was very professional and personable. We talked through some basic options on the phone, and he said we could hash out the rest once he was able to examine the room. I was pleasantly surprised by that flexibility and by how quickly he was able to fit me in. I expected to wait months, but it wasn’t even a week! Once he got there and took a look around, it turned out that it actually needed less work than we’d originally thought. Now, keep in mind, I know next to nothing about this stuff. I thought the room was totally trashed. He could have charged me to replace the walls, window, and ceiling, and I’d have been none the wiser. But he didn’t, and the cost was much less since he only ended up having to remove the wall panelling, replace the trim, and repaint. And it still ended up the best-looking room in the entire house. His honesty saved me money and impressed the hell out of me, too. I ended up hiring him again later to redo most of the downstairs to match the bedroom’s quality, and then once more for the garage. The quality was top-notch every time. Seriously good work from this company, and I can’t recommend them enough.

I highly recommend Clear River Contracting. Originally I hired Shawn to replace an old fiberglass moulded shower with a new unit, which he did and it looks amazing! He went over and above with every detail.

I was in the process of getting my home of 33 years ready to go on the market and I was overwhelmed with repairs/upgrading that needed to be completed.
